Kicks.

Southern schools of kungfu (including Tai Chi Chuan) do not encourage the using of high kicks. The general rule is kicking must not be higher than the waist so that the kick is hidden from view. Also there is a saying kicking high is risky and exposes to 70% danger.

In life and death fight where there is no margin for ...error this makes sense as kicking high will open-up a big loophole for counter attack. In my illustration, a high kick clearly open-up groin, hip, inner thigh and knee to a low kick counter. This is in no mean undermines the importance of kicking high, I just want to spark another discussion on kicks. Tai Chi 'Dan Tui" can be very effective in street fight. PLease feel free to add your thoughts.
